Daahyeh to Follow Up Royal Ascot Win with Another at Newmarket

Daahyeh, trained by Roger Varian, has made a very nice impression on us so far, winning both of her racecourse starts. She first won what is looking like being a strong maiden at Newmarket on the other course, and backed that up with a very impressive win in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot last month. This is just the third start of her career and already she has claims of being one of the best two year olds we have seen, and she appears to have a great chance of making it three wins out of three on Thursday.

When winning on debut at Newmarket, she was send off as the 3/1 joint favourite. That itself shows that the vibes were strong about her that day, and the win was no fluke. She won by just under two lengths and one of her main rivals today, Raffle Prize, was behind her on that occasion. That horse has since gone to Chester and won, then went to Royal Ascot and won the 5f Queen Mary. The additional furlong here should suit her, and she looks to be a danger.

However, the form line between them both suggests that Daahyeh is the better horse, and on top of that she also gets 3lb from Raffle Prize here, so the distance between the horses should be bigger this time around if anything. Both won races at Royal Ascot and while we haven’t really seen many horses come out of those races to frank or question the form, the Albany looked to be a slightly better race on paper, and was over 6f like today’s race.

All bar one of the rest of the field have previously finished behind either Raffle Prize or Daahyeh, and I don’t think any of them did anything to show me the form could be turned around. I see this as a battle between two horses if they run to the best of their ability and out of the two it is Daahyeh that I am leaning towards. She looks to be the slightly better horse out of the two and the 3lb she is receiving from Raffle Prize should cement that and hopefully give her the win.
