Rejuvenated Ballyandy Worth Following Again at Ascot

The Nigel Twiston-Davies trained Ballyandy has long since looked like a horse who would climb a long way towards the top of the pile. He won the Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival back in his younger days and since then he has been one that a lot of people have taken note of. He went chasing earlier this season but that didn’t work out and now he is back over hurdles. After impressing at Uttoxeter to win last time out, there could be a lot more to come and he looks worth following once more when he runs at Ascot on Saturday.

This is a much tougher race for him, despite being in the same class and he has been put up 6lb in the weights for his win last time out. However, there was a lot to like about his performance and he galloped all over his rivals, winning with more in hand than the winning margin of just over four lengths suggests.

He has always looked a well handicapped horse and even though he is now off a mark of 148, he still looks as though he is able to work off that mark. He did it very nicely last time out, and while the step up amongst better horses here is against him, he is a class act, and a repeat of his last run would give him the chance to go very close at Ascot, even despite the rise in the weights he has been given.
