Definitly Red Primed for Second Many Clouds Chase Win

Just four horses go to post for the Many Clouds Chase on Saturday, but two horses are very interesting from the four we have going to post. The winner of the race looks likely to be Definitly Red, who won the race last year and comes into the race this season on the back of a fantastic win in the Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby last month. He is once again being targeted for the Cheltenham Gold Cup, and will have to win this to show he is capable of running anywhere near the big guns in the feature race at Cheltenham in March.

So far, Definitly Red is undertaking the same path as he did last season, though this time around he is in better form. He finished third in the Charlie Hall last season before coming on to win here, while this time he comes here as the winner of that Grade Two, and looking to add this race to his season haul so far.

He is more than capable of winning races like this one that are just below top class and after seeing him gallop and jump well in a small field already once this season, I think we will see him do exactly the same here.

The second interesting runner is one for the notebook and not one to be backing to win this race. The horse is One For Arthur, who won the 2017 Grand National and this is his first run since that day. He is being aimed at the 2019 National, and it is likely that he isn’t going to be fit enough to do himself justice first time out. This is a long term plan though, and he is certainly worth watching in this race to see how he goes and if he retains any of his old spark.

The Many Clouds Chase looks as though it will once again go to the Brian Ellison team and Definitly Red.
